An exploration of the relationship between figurative and abstract art, the work of Canadian artist Geoff Farnsworth is a stunning reflection of the artists approach to work and life.
Drawing influence from people and motifs from his personal world, as well as from classical and contemporary culture, Geoff brings together shape, colour, texture, and energy to create his lively and distinctive portraiture.
Based in Niagara, Canada, Geoff’s art training began at an early age, “in diapers with crayons”, with encouragement from his family. After ‘rebelling’ by going to business school, he later returned to the art world aged 27, beginning his career drawing and painting full-time from the human model.
Working in New York with abstract painters Frank O’Cain and William Scharf – a friend and former studio assistant of Mark Rothko – caused Geoff’s style to develop in new ways, exploring abstraction, colour and different materials.
